Some
landowners choose to donate to a land trust by means of a simple
bequest in their will, leaving them maximum flexibility over their
land during their lifetime and ample opportunity to consider
conservation practices and uses. This may be accomplished by a
simple statement or codicil to a will, or by means of a living
trust. Additionally, PAC is always grateful to those who remember
us in their estate planning with cash bequests.
In
all cases, the landowner and the land trust must clearly
understand each other's intentions. Landowners considering this
option should consult their estate planner for legal advice and
the land trust for a conservation plan for the property's future.
